About author Pete Heiden

Eclectic by nature, Pete Heiden has been an instructor for horseback riding, orienteering, survival, and adult hunter education. He has enjoyed teaching kids and adults the art of drum making, along with the quiet of fish, flora, fauna, and archeology surveys. Pete has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing.

Among many endeavors he has run a dog kennel, mucked stalls, milked cows, been a musher, and won ribbons in horse and buggy driving events. He enjoys fly tying and carving, be it wood or stone. Pete is a certified equine massage therapist, and a reiki practitioner. Over the years Pete worked on historic preservation at both the landscape and structure level, along with designs for campgrounds, trail facilities, scenic byways, and numerous restoration or mitigation efforts to counter adverse impacts from logging, mining, road, and recreation activities.
His chapbook, Sean Hill and the Little Town of Vandenberg was published by Red Bird Chapbooks Press. He currently lives within the Annishinaabe 1854 ceded territory of Minnesota’s Arrowhead Region near the north shore of Lake Superior with his partner and young son.
